1st November 2016 – Lunderston Bay
Our first November walk dispensed with Scotrail and took to the road, with three cars carrying the thirteen walkers to Lunderston Bay on the Clyde coast just past Gourock. We started off along the coastal path in glorious sunshine before turning landward and up to the entrance into the Ardgowan Estate.
We walked through the Estate, around the eastern perimiter, (by accident? – there was a lot of discussion by the map readers!) back down past the house with its ruined
chapel and onward to Inverkip for coffee at the Marina. After coffee, Gordon Arthur, on behalf of the walking group, presented Bob Crawford (who has organised the walks for many years) a gift voucher to celebrate his 90th birthday. We then took the coastal path back to the cars at Lunderston Bay. It was hard to believe this was November – warm sunshine all the way, the Autumn colours in the forest just breathtaking, no gorse to fight through and relatively dry underfoot.
