Quiz Night (Actually morning, 26 th September, 2017)
Barry Adams-Strump
The chairman welcomed Barry-Adams Strump, a retired GP who now travels
throughout the UK on the panel of the MPTS medical practitioners’ tribunal service.
Besides this professional activity, Barry also works tirelessly for the reduction of
polio, is a former chairman of Govan Rotary and finds time to conduct quizzes with
participation of clubs throughout Strathclyde.
The chairman also welcomed a quiz team from Allander Probus, and then divided the
rest of the company into six teams. They all assumed silly names – Probus Prodigies,
Jordanhill Geniuses etc. and competed for vintage wine from the Secretary’s cellar.
There were six rounds relating to dates, personalities, events and trivia from each of
the six decades 1940-2000. The questions in each round of the quiz were clearly
projected on a screen to allow team members to collaborate on a team response which
was then ‘marked’ by an adjoining team. Jordanhill Geniuses were the winners,
enabling the Secretary to reclaim one of his own bottles of wine.
