My year as your President has flown by and I have enjoyed it.
The first thing to say is thank you to the very many people who have contributed to this year. Most of the hard work has been done by your committee, not by me. As a unit they have carried out all the background functions that ensure the Club and all its activities take place smoothly with no apparent fuss. They have made being President very straightforward.
I hope you all agree with me that we have been fortunate to have had an excellent program of talks this year. I would like to thank all our speakers. I should add as well that it has been a particular pleasure to have had several members of the Club as speakers too, as it is always very interesting to hear about their lives prior to their retirement.
I must also apologise that I had to miss one or two of our meetings this year and to thank Dermot Kennedy who kindly deputised for me,
I would finally like to thank you all, the Club members. You have supported our meetings strongly. You have proved to be a lively audience with lots of questions after our talks, and you have been very friendly to me. Thank you again for making my year as President very enjoyable! All I have to do now is to wish Dermot Kennedy all the best for his upcoming year as your new President. I am sure that with Dermot the Club will be in good hands!
