Eddie Horn is from the Department of Computer, Communications and Interactive Systems at Glasgow Caledonian University where he is the program Lead for MA in 3D Design for Virtual Environments. He and Stevie Anderson from the University’s School of Engineering and Built Environment, conducted a feasibility study to see if they could provide accurate measurements to draw up plans for a new clock tower in the Gorbals. The original fountain and clock tower at Gorbals’ Cross were built in 1878 and demolished in 1932. 4,000 miles away in St Kitt’s a replica was built in the 1880’s from drawings provided by the original iron founders. Using 3D techniques Eddie led a team to accurately measure the clock tower comparable with the original drawings. Plans are now under way to reconstruct the clock tower.
