Kelvin Probus Meet-up and organ recital
16th November 2023
Kelvingrove Art Gallery
Members are invited to join me on Thursday, 16th November for an organ recital in the main hall at Kelvingrove. According to Glasgow Life, the Kelvingrove organ is one of the finest instruments in public ownership today. The recital will be at 1 pm and last for half an hour. Weekday recitals are described as being “of a light and popular nature.”
I intend to be around the coffee shop, which is just on the right-hand side as you enter the main hall, from 11.30 onwards. Please join me from then on. Members will be able to get tea, coffee and sandwiches if required prior to the recital and to enjoy a bit of social time together.
The organist scheduled for the 16th is Bill Hutcheson, a freelance organist from Paisley. I attended one of his previous recitals and he played a varied and lively programme, as he no doubt will again. After all, he’s been doing it for 54 years.
The idea of this event is that members can simply turn up on the day and do not require to do anything in the way of booking. However, I would find it useful to know roughly the number who wish to attend and so that I can look out for folk. So please let me know if you intend to come.
