Liam Devlin is a former teacher, a long career at St Aloysius College being sandwiched
between periods working for the Adult and Continuing Education Departments of Glasgow
and Edinburgh Universities for which he taught Music. He was appointed Linlithgow
Pursuivant Extraordinary in 2024, promoted to Unicorn Pursuivant in 2016 and then
advanced to Rothesay Herald in 2021, in which last capacity he took part in the funeral
events of the late Queen Elizabeth and the coronation of The KIng. He retired from active
service in July but continues to run the Social Media accounts for the Court of the Lord Lyon.
The talk will give a brief introduction to Heraldry and to the Court of the Lord Lyon before
giving an eye-witness account of the royal ceremonial of the last three years from a Scottish
point-of-view.
