Ian Lamb

Commander Ian Lamb Royal Navy Retired

On leaving School in 1964 Ian joined Eastern Electricity (EE) as a Student Apprentice. He successfully negotiated his studies and then worked for EE as a planning engineer. In 1970 he volunteered and was accepted for the Royal Navy and progressed into Nuclear Submarines. His first Submarine was HMS Conqueror and he progressed from there to Chatham Dockyard and then the Engineering HQ in Bath, both in Nuclear Safety roles. He then joined HMS Repulse and this was followed by a series of shore jobs in Faslane. He left the Navy in 1992 and joined BAeSEMA. In 1999 he left BAe to work as a consultant and was involved mainly with the Clyde Shiplift until he retired in 2011.
