Dr Steve Ohlsen has spent his working life within the healthcare industries – in a number of major pharmaceutical and diagnostics companies, helping support the development of new cardiovascular and anti – cancer drugs, as well point of care diagnostic methods to detect disease at an early stage.He is passionate that the NHS should be taking the lead and ensure that the country takes prevention seriously- if not we will be faced with a sharply rising burden of avoidable illness.The future health of millions of children, the sustainability of the NHS, and the economic prosperity of Britain all now depend on a radical upgrade in prevention of disease and a major change in the way that we view public health. This change not only involves all our elected representatives but, critically, involves each and every one of us!
