Short Abstract:
Owl Magic is an Ayrshire based charitable owl and raptor centre with over 60 owls for educational and display purposes. Reece Leonard, an enthusiastic falconer, will explain what Owl Magic does in terms of re-homing abandoned raptors, educating children about wild birds and the dangers facing them in the wild, giving owl displays and hiring out the owls for pest control. Of particular concern to Reece is the decline in the Barn Owl population which has reduced by 70% in the last 30 years or so.

Reece Leonard did his ‘apprenticeship’ as a Zoo Keeper and drifted into the ancient art of falconry which has become a great passion. One of his concerns is that anyone in the UK can become a falconer. However, in the US you need to attend a college course before you are allowed to own and do gamehawking.
