From the canal bridge at Anniesland, the group headed west along the towpath, picking up three more (lazy?) walkers at Cleveden Road. Continuing along the towpath till Maryhill locks, we then turned off along the river Kelvin walkway which we followed all the way to Kelvingrove Park. The riverbank is always a pleasant and interesting walk, where Dr. Beeching’s railway cuts are very much in evidence on both sides of the river. The ruins of an old flint mine also show that industries once used the water flowing down towards the Clyde. We then continued through the park, leaving at Kelvin Way, before making our way to the Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum where we had a look at Dippy, the Leonardo da Vinci drawings and popped into the cafe for a coffe break.
